Kate Cornwall
After a successful career in corporate business, with change management and project management qualifications, Kate made a change to operating her own glass art practice.
Kate has studied technique under many internationally recognised glass artists, including Kirsty Rae, Daniel Clayman, Silvia Levenson, David Traub, Evelyn Dunstan, and Elizabeth McClure. Kate engages with a mixture of approaches, media and techniques to challenge how art glass is viewed and presented, mixing traditional with non-traditional processes. In recent years Kate has begun exploring the synergies of lost wax metal casting and glass casting.
Kate works extensively promoting glass art in New Zealand, running Glass Art In NZ, an organisation that focuses on collaboration and connecting glass and artists across New Zealand. Kate regularly organises glass art exhibitions, including the largest glass art exhibition in NZ history. Kate has worked on the Executive Committee for the NZ Society of Glass Artists (NZSAG), as part of the team organizing the 2019 Colab Conference and as the Editor for the NZSAG magazine.
